Answer Explanations
Question 1: A - 171
3/5 of 240 is 144. 18% of 150 is 27. Total: 171.
Question 2: A - Definitive
Equivocal means ambiguous or open to more than one interpretation. Definitive is the closest opposite.
Question 3: D - Northeast
Northeast rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise becomes northwest. Vertical reflection changes northwest to northeast.
Question 4: D - Some analysts are not auditors
The analysts who are trainees do not examine records and therefore cannot be auditors. This proves some analysts are not auditors, not that no analyst is an auditor.
Question 5: E - Product
A seed is an early form that develops into a plant. A prototype is an early form that can develop into a product.
Question 6: D - $180
After a 20% reduction, 80% remains. 144 ÷ 0.8 = 180.
Question 7: A - White square
The next shape is square. The shading cycle after white at position 5 is white at position 6.
Question 8: E - credible
The sentence requires something that appeared believable before errors were found. Credible fits naturally.
Question 9: E - 10
Let the original counts be 7k and 5k. After 6 leave: 7k - 6 = 4k, so 3k = 6 and k = 2. Managers = 10.
Question 10: B - S, R, P, Q, T
The constraints create S before R before the fixed block P-Q before T.
Question 11: B - Uncompromising
Intransigent means unwilling to compromise or change position.
Question 12: E - 32
Required total: 168. Known total: 136. Missing value: 32.
Question 13: C - Two white stars outside one black circle
Four options use two black shapes outside one white shape. Option C reverses the shading.
Question 14: B - U
The jumps increase by one: +2, +3, +4, +5, then +6. O + 6 = U.
Question 15: C - 9
6x - 15 = 39, so 6x = 54 and x = 9.
Question 16: C - It was not complete
Complete implies reviewed and archived. Not archived means the report could not have been complete.
Question 17: D - Cylinder
Cylinder is three-dimensional. The others are two-dimensional polygons.
Question 18: C - 450
Rate is 420 ÷ 28 = 15 units per machine-hour. 5 × 6 × 15 = 450.
Question 19: A - Upper-left
The moves are +1, +2, +1. The next move is +2 from lower-right, returning to upper-left.
Question 20: B - Confusing
Lucid means clear and easy to understand. Confusing is the opposite.
How to Review Challenging Questions
For every missed or slow item, identify whether the difficulty came from:
- multiple calculation steps;
- reverse percentages;
- close vocabulary distractors;
- two simultaneous visual rules;
- a conditional chain;
- a hidden fixed block;
- a growing sequence difference;
- an unsupported assumption;
- slow arithmetic rather than the reasoning itself.
Do not record the problem only as hard. Name the specific skill that needs work.
Hard Practice Is Not a Live-Score Prediction
A strong result on this set does not prove a particular official percentile. A weak result does not prove failure. Independent difficulty is editorial and can differ from the live assessment.
Use a full mixed simulation after correcting the methods.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these the hardest possible CCAT questions?
No. Difficulty varies by candidate and question set.
Do live questions always become harder?
Do not assume a fixed official progression.
Should I spend longer because the question is difficult?
Only continue when a clear path remains. Use elimination and move on from time traps.
Can a hard-practice score be converted to an official percentile?
No.
Should I repeat the set until perfect?
Review methods, then use unseen material. Memorized answers can distort readiness.
