CCAT vs. Cognify at a Glance

The Main Difference

The CCAT asks candidates to solve discrete questions quickly. Cognify measures aptitude through game mechanics rather than a conventional question booklet.

Both can assess underlying problem solving, numerical reasoning and learning ability, but practice for one does not perfectly reproduce the other.

Cognify Structure

Criteria’s current standard Cognify uses three games:

• a problem-solving game;
• a numerical-reasoning game;
• a verbal-knowledge game involving written-text interpretation or editing.

Tutorials are provided before the scored games. Candidates should use them to understand controls, goals and feedback rather than rushing because the scored portion is short.

Criteria also offers UCognify, a language-independent version using two games in about seven minutes plus tutorials. UCognify should not be treated as identical to standard Cognify.

Device and Interface Differences

The CCAT is normally completed in a browser using conventional multiple-choice controls.

Cognify is designed as an immersive interactive assessment. Device compatibility, input controls and accessibility arrangements may differ. Follow the invitation and complete any system checks before starting.

Score Differences

A CCAT raw score is the number correct out of 50, accompanied by a percentile and potentially ability-area information.

Cognify does not produce a directly comparable raw score out of 50. Its report uses percentile-based results from the games and measured areas.

Do not convert a Cognify percentile into a predicted CCAT raw score, even though both products assess cognitive aptitude.

Preparation Differences

For the CCAT

• practice mixed verbal, mathematical, logical and spatial questions;
• develop no-calculator methods;
• complete 50-question, 15-minute simulations;
• review mistakes and long stalls.

For Cognify

• understand the purpose of each tutorial;
• practice following changing interactive rules;
• maintain accuracy rather than clicking impulsively;
• prepare the approved device and input method;
• avoid expecting conventional CCAT question layouts.

General numerical and problem-solving practice may support both, but memorising CCAT answer patterns does not train the exact Cognify mechanics.
